"summary": "In this course, you will explore curating art and design as a creative and collaborative practice. This practice responds to a range of real-world contexts and communities.\n\nThere are many aspects to curating. It can be from working with collections to producing exhibitions and events. It can also be learning to research, communicating ideas to audiences, writing, and publishing. It encompasses whether you are working with or as an artist.\n\nIn this course, you will develop work guided by your interests and ambitions. You will also work alongside other practitioners exploring curating from different approaches. You will gain creative, critical, and technical skills. You will also gain practical experience in exhibition-making and event production.\n\nTopics of study include:\n\nexhibition formats and curatorial platforms\nevent-based curating and public programming\nexperimental curating\ncollaborative approaches to curating\nworking with media art archives and collections\ncurating research and research exhibitions\ndifferent modes of writing within curatorial practice\ncuratorial activism\nartist as curator\ndesign thinking for curators\nproject planning, marketing and fundraising\nworking with publics\ninstallation and documentation\ncommissioning\nLearning in the art school environment of DJCAD, you'll have access to a shared curatorial studio space. Also, you will also have access to workshops, library, exhibition and learning spaces.\n\nYou will benefit from learning through engagement with exhibition programmes across the University, including Cooper Gallery which is a Tate Plus organisation.\n\nYou will also have access to DJCAD's unique archival holdings including:\n\nThe Alastair MacLennan Performance Art Archive\nREWIND Archive of Early Video Art\nDigital Demarco Archive\nThe Artist Book Collection\n\nAs a postgraduate student, you will share core modules with students on Fine Art MFA. You will also join the wider DJCAD community by attending open lecture series and research seminars.",
