Teaching will be delivered at our Collegiate campus during the 2024/25 academic year while we get our new facilities ready. After that you will study in brand new facilities at City campus.**\n\n**Course summary**\n\n\n- Gain research skills and a professional level of understanding in psychology.\n\n\n- Understand how we develop through the human lifespan.\n\n\n- Study infancy, childhood and adolescence into adulthood and old age.\n\n\n- Explore stability and change in our physical, cognitive, social and emotional development.\n\n\nThis course is designed to give you a solid foundational knowledge in the core areas of psychology – particularly as applied within a developmental context. You’ll cover the core areas of psychology as identified by the British Psychological Society (BPS). You’ll also gain a graduate basis for chartered membership (GBC) of the society.\n\n**How you learn**\n\nAll our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive.\n\nThe course is designed around your career – so you’ll attend university just one day a week. As a career progression route and conversion course, this programme is specifically designed to provide you with the core academic and subject-specific skills you’ll need to access postgraduate training courses for a career in psychology – particularly if you’d like a career in teaching or with specific age groups.\n\nYou learn through\n\n\n- lectures\n\n\n- seminars\n\n\n- workshops\n\n\n- presentations\n\n\n- self-directed study\n\n\n**Applied learning**\n\n**Live projects**\n\nLectures on the course are primarily focused on core knowledge and theoretical content – while seminars and workshops provide the opportunity for you to apply understanding through discussion and practical-based activities. You’ll complete a large-scale research project under the supervision of a member of staff, which allows you to put the psychological knowledge and research skills you've honed over the degree into practice.\n\nYou may be offered the opportunity to assist with undergraduate teaching and/or staff research projects (subject to availability). This will especially suit those interested in a career in academia. There’ll also be many other opportunities for volunteering within the university and through other organisations.\n\n**Networking opportunities**\n\nThe course helps you make the necessary links between the skills you’re developing and those that are required by professionals in psychology. To help, we offer a series of tutorials that promote reflective skills – as well as more fundamental employability skills such as identifying the kind of jobs that the course opens up to you, writing CVs, etc. \n\nYou’ll also meet alumni to learn from their career progression route.",
