"summary": "**Our MSc Mathematics with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is a follow-on qualification from our PGCE Mathematics programme. Following the successful completion of a Research into Teaching and Learning module and a school-based research project, you will be qualified to master's level which, in addition to your PGCE, will position you strongly in the broad field of maths teaching.**\n\nThe structure of the MSc programme has been uniquely designed to allow you to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and then progress to complete the master's degree on a part-time basis during your early years of teaching.\n\nFollowing completion of your PGCE year, if you are eligible and you decide to progress with master's study, you can enrol onto a Research in Education module. This module is worth 30 credits and is completed online during the summer.\n\nStudents who are eligible ‘may progress onto the MSc at the end of the same academic year, or within (but no longer than) 5 years of graduating from the Postgraduate Certificate in Education programme.\nYou will then enrol onto the final module which involves carrying out a research project relevant to your specialist subject of mathematics and the school/educational context.\n\nThis is a distance learning module and involves one-to-one supervision with internationally renowned researchers or experts in the field. Upon successful completion of this second module, you will be awarded an MSc Education.\n\n**Who should study this programme?**\nThese are some of the strengths and characteristics you’ll need to get into teaching and find it a fulfilling career:\n\n\n- communication skills\n\n\n- organisational skills\n\n\n- a desire to bring out the best in people\n\n\n- resilience, energy, stamina, and a willingness to shoulder responsibility\n\n\n- flexibility and a willingness to adapt and get to grips with new developments\n\n\n- self-awareness.\n",
