"summary": "Based on the Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture (RFCDC) and Human Rights Education, and in collaboration with a team of international researchers and experts, this course will enable you to:\n• Build expertise on concepts related to citizenship education, democratic culture, diversity and intercultural dialogue\n• Lead discussions on contemporary and controversial issues\n• Foster ethical discussion in the classroom\n• Be creative and experimental with teaching methods\n• Support the development of democratic culture in your professional environment\n\nAs part of your course, you’ll study:\n• The principles of education for democratic citizenship and human rights education\n• Development and practical implementation of appropriate curricula for education for democratic citizenship\n• Political and social dimensions of formal education\n• Culture, identity, diversity, pluralism and intercultural dialogue in education\n• Student voice, democratic engagement and participation in education\n• Pedagogies, teaching and assessment methods in citizenship education\n• Cross-curricular implementation of citizenship education\n\nTransform your potential\nThis course will develop your understanding of the role of education in the development of:\n• Students’ social awareness\n• Critical thinking and citizenship identities\n• Its transformative potential\nYou’ll explore suitable pedagogies for applying the RFCDC and Human Rights Education to your practice.
