"summary": "This course is designed for professionals who want to improve their skills without engaging in an extensive research dissertation project.\n\nOur Postgraduate Diploma in Anatomy & Advanced Forensic Anthropology offers advanced knowledge and practical skills that you can immediately apply within your workplace.\n\nAnatomy is the study of the structure of the body. It deals with the relationship of organs and tissues. This is at a gross (whole organ) and microscopic (histological) level.\n\nForensic anthropology relates to the identification of unknown individuals. It plays a key role in UK and international investigations. Cases include interpersonal violence and homicide, repatriation, mass disasters, and war crimes.\n\nThere are many reasons why you should study at the University of Dundee. \n\nWe’re 1st in the UK for Forensic Science (Complete University Guide, 2023). \nMany of our expert staff are forensic practitioners. \nWe were the first UK university to use the Thiel embalming system in our teaching. We are now considered the UK’s leading Thiel facility. A variety of anatomical institutions across the world have consulted our technicians. \nYou’ll have access to our Scheuer collection, and animal and human skeletal teaching collections.\nThis course is optimal for practitioners and professionals in the field who want to expand further knowledge and skills.\n\nYou will learn how forensic anthropology contributes to the analysis and interpretation of human remains. This will include a revision of the skeletal methods used for the construction of the biological profile.\n\nYou’ll gain the skills needed to assess juvenile skeletal remains. You will also learn how to produce forensic skeletal reports as to present evidence in court.\n\nYou will also gain a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of gross anatomy. Through full body dissection, we will do this with Thiel embalmed cadavers. These cadavers are soft fix.\n\nThis means they retain real-to-life qualities including realistic colour, tissue quality and flexibility.\n\nThis means that they are ideal for gross anatomy learning.",
