"modules": "You will take four core modules and two optional modules depending upon your interests and career aspirations, and complete a masters-level project over the summer on a topic of your choice. Your MSc project can be on healthcare data analytics, health informatics or clinical studies or be a multidisciplinary mix of these areas.\n\nThroughout the programme, you will learn how to master sophisticated analytics techniques and professional software, including R and the tidyverse, Python, and additional software such as SQL/NoSQL databases, to handle and exploit big data, and to work as part of a project team. You will develop conceptual, and practical understanding of topics including Big Data, medical statistics and machine learning. You will gain experience of the design and analysis of health studies, and learn how to provide impactful healthcare insights from a range of medical and clinical studies.\n\nCore modules\n\nHealth Data and Medical Statistics (MATH515)\nThis module provides an introduction to health data and medical statistics, and related ethical considerations. It discusses statistical techniques for the design, analysis and interpretation of medical studies. Up-to-date professional software for analysing health data is studied. Experience in preparing a professional statistical analysis plan is provided.\nMachine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for Healthcare (MATH516)\nThis module aims to introduce cutting-edge techniques in machine learning and artificial intelligence for health data analytics. All methods will be implemented using state-of-the-art software.\nModelling and Analytics for Data Science (MATH501)\nThis module gives students an understanding of modelling and analytics techniques for data science. It supplies modern data modelling toolboxes for making strategic decisions in a broad range of practical situations. It offers a hands-on introduction to Bayesian inference and machine learning. It provides additional practice in making professional presentations.\nBig Data and Social Network Visualisation (MATH513)\nSophisticated analytics techniques are needed to visualise today's increasing quantities of big data. Up-to-date R tools including dplyr for data manipulation, ggplot2 for visualisation, and knitr/LaTeX for document presentation are studied. These are applied to database interrogation, social network visualisation and sentiment analysis. The module provides considerable experience of writing professionally documented R code using RStudio.\nMSc Dissertation and Research Skills (PROJ518) – This module is core but not taught\nYou will develop research skills to propose and undertake a research project that are practically realistic and academically worthwhile. You will design and conduct a substantial research project using ethically suitable quantitative and qualitative research methods. The project will be reported through a high quality, scholarly and professional write-up, either as a formal dissertation or journal paper.",

"suggest": "Health Data Science and Statistics. University of Plymouth. Artificial intelligence. Robotics. Statistics",
"summary": "The interdisciplinary MSc Health Data Science and Statistics programme is a masters-level course that provides students up-to-date knowledge and skills in data analytics and health studies that much sought after by employers in the healthcare sector and beyond.\nStudents will develop conceptual, technical and practical understanding on topics including big data, medical statistics, machine learning, as well as design and analysis of health studies.\nModules will comprise a range of activities, including lectures and seminars, with an emphasis on practical work. Students will graduate with experience of both using existing data analytics tools as well as designing and analysis of health studies.\nA dissertation over the summer will provide students the opportunity to carry out a research project of their choice, working alongside the internationally recognised research being conducted in health data science and statistics at Plymouth.\nThe programme is designed to target graduates from Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Psychology as well as Medicine and Health who wish to specialise in health data analytics. It may also be suitable for non-STEMM students with a background in quantitative methods or equivalent experience.\nThe healthcare sector has experienced rapid changes over the last decade, especially within the UK, but also internationally. There is an increasing amount of data available in healthcare. The UK government has invested in Health Data Research UK as a national institute to deliver data revolution in secure data sharing, analytics, research and capacity building. The potential of utilizing health data is growing, and as is for health data analysts/scientists.\nThe UK has the ambition to be the world leader for artificial intelligence, as outlined in the National AI Strategy, where healthcare is one of the core businesses.\nLocally we are well connected to NHS in the region, where there is increasing demand in consultancy in using data for healthcare service evaluation, management and insights.\nThe MSc HDSS programme is designed to train analysts that the healthcare sector needs to reach its full potential. The programme is designed to provide graduates with the skills needed to fulfil the promise of the healthcare sector in the UK and globally, including healthcare industries, government agency, research institutions or consultancy units. The skills developed during this course would also provide the opportunity for employment elsewhere within either the finance or business sector which invested in healthcare products. The programme also provides solid foundation for graduates who would like to continue on to PhD study.",
