"summary": "Within the rapidly globalising environment of intellectual property and digital commerce, the LLM in Intellectual Property & the Digital Economy provides you with a unique opportunity to specialise in this increasingly important area of law.\n\n**WHY THIS PROGRAMME**\n\n\n- You will develop a critical understanding of a wide range of issues concerning the legal regulation of intellectual property and the digital economy.\n\n\n- Benefit from access to and engagement with the School of Law' s leading Centre for Regulation of the Creative Economy: CREATe.\n\n\n- Interact with leading academics presenting their most recent, influential research in our CREATe Public Lecture Series. \n\n\n- You will have the opportunity to take part in CopyrightX: Glasgow, an intensive twelve-week network course offered in affiliation with Harvard Law School and the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society.\n\n\n- Benefit from experiential learning activities, developed in partnership with the British Film Institute and the British Library, designed to provide you with the opportunity to tackle real-life policy challenges currently faced by the cultural heritage sectors in the UK.\n\n\n- Apply for traineeships or internships at firms and international organisations specialising in intellectual property. As a member of the Pan-European Seal programme, you can be shortlisted for a one-year, paid traineeship at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the European Patent Office (EPO).\n\n\n- Our excellent facilities include the dedicated School of Law library. The main University Library also contains our extensive collection of legal materials and official publications, and is a European Documentation Centre.\n\n\n- Law at Glasgow is ranked 4th in the UK by the Good University Guide 2026 and 8th in the UK by the Complete University Guide 2026.\n\n\n**PROGRAMME STRUCTURE**\n\nYou will take six courses and submit a dissertation as falling within the area. Courses are delivered through a blend of lectures and seminar-style teaching.\n\nYou are required to take two or three core courses and three or four optional courses (for a total of six courses). One optional course can be chosen from other courses within the School of Law's LLM portfolio. Please note, if you are taking this programme, you cannot take the course Intellectual Property & the Market, and enrolment on other courses is subject to availability and timetabling.\n\nFor the dissertation, you can choose between a written dissertation or a collaborative dissertation research project with a partner organisation.
