Study the history and theory of state relations, alongside issues today.\n\nWhy choose this course at Sussex?\nThe MA International Relations helps you to understand and critically reflect on the global challenges of our times. We live in a world of poly-crises, from war and conflict to climate change and sustainability. Human rights are challenged on multiple occasions.\n\nIn this MA, you’ll gain the skills and knowledge to help you negotiate some of these issues by:\n\n\n- exploring the role of governmental, inter-governmental and non-governmental agencies, private enterprises and international bodies in world politics\n\n\n- gaining a deeper understanding of specific regions in the world and how they impact on world politics\n\n\n- learning about the (in)securities of our time and the future of peace and human rights\n\n\n- \n\n\nSussex has one of only four dedicated International Relations departments in the UK. You’ll learn from leading International Relations scholars whose cutting-edge research informs their teaching. You’ll systematically study world politics through a critical theoretical foundation.\n\nAt the same time, we have your employability in mind. You’ll build a portfolio of skills that will enable you to pursue a career globally from local and national governments to international organisations, from NGOs to transnational corporations.\n\nYou can also access events at the Department of International Relations’ research centres:\n\nCentre for Advanced International Theory\nSussex Centre for Conflict and Security Research\nCentre for Global Political Economy.\nReligion and Foreign Policy Initiative.\n\nIn addition, our faculty also contributes to and/or leads School- and University-wide centres such as the Centre for Global Health Policy, the Sussex Rights and Justice Research Centre, and the Centre for Colonial and Postcolonial Studies.\n\n**About Sussex**\n\nOur courses, research, culture and campus aim to stimulate, excite and challenge.
