"modules": "All years\n\nThe MSc Applied Sport and Exercise Physiology equips you with advanced knowledge of physiological responses to exercise and training. Core modules balance theoretical understanding with practical laboratory skills, including advanced physiological testing methods like VO2 max and lactate threshold assessments. You’ll develop professional experience through industry work placements with support from the university's dedicated placement team. The programme culminates in a large research project where you investigate your chosen area of interest with academic supervision, preparing you for careers in high-performance sport, health settings, and research. \n\nSport and Exercise Work-Based Learning (Mental Wealth) (Core Modules)\n\nThe work placement module will enable you to develop your employability and technical skills within the sports industry. Due to our industry links and array of partnerships, our dedicated placements team will be on hand to help support and find a placement relevant to your career ambitions.\n\nApplying Research Skills (Core Modules)\n\nThis module provides you with the tools and techniques required to complete your final research project. You will be taught relevant research methodologies and statistical analyses that will help you understand what is required to complete a masters level dissertation.\n\nSport Research Project (120 credits) (Core Modules)\n\nThe final research project gives you the opportunity to pursue a particular topic that is of interest to you. You will be assigned an academic advisor that will help support you along the process, and you will complete a comprehensive investigation surrounding a topic within the Strength and Conditioning field. This will give you the opportunity to show the knowledge and expertise that have been gained throughout the course.\n\nThe Theory of Applied Sport and Exercise Physiology (Core Modules)\n\nThis module will provide you with a detailed understanding of the core scientific concepts and topics that underpin applied sport and exercise physiology. You will develop advanced theoretical knowledge of how physiological systems respond to exercise and training, including how to monitor and prescribe training thresholds, understand the impact of extreme environments, and interpret the role of exercise in disease prevention. As part of this module, you will develop the skills required to critically evaluate primary literature and make your own informed, evidence-based conclusions, whilst learning the fundamentals of writing academic manuscripts.\n\nThe Advanced Practice of Applied Sport and Exercise Physiology (Core Modules)\n\nThis module will provide you with the practical skills needed to work in a range of applied sport and exercise physiology settings. You will expand on the skills acquired at undergraduate level by developing your competencies by conducting a range of physiological tests to assess health and performance, including assessments of maximal oxygen uptake and lactate thresholds. You will learn how to collect high-quality data and deliver concise, timely feedback to clients to help them make informed decisions.",
