"summary": "Studied side-by-side, these two subjects give you the skills and knowledge needed to wrap your head around how companies work from both the inside and outside. This degree will hone your skills so you can find specialist roles out in the field.\n\nOur degree will give you the opportunity to study two interrelated subjects, providing you with a comprehensive knowledge of the key areas of economics and accounting.\n\nYou will be introduced to techniques of accounting, such as financial reporting, management accounting, auditing and taxation. If you choose to take our Economics and Accounting BSc you will have the opportunity to gain exemptions from certain professional exams through CIMA, ACCA, ACA (offered by the ICAEW), and ICAS giving you a head-start in a career in accountancy. These exemptions are dependent upon the satisfactory completion of certain modules.\n\nAn optional year studying abroad or undertaking an industry placement will enhance your skills and build your professional network. Your time with us will also equip you with the research techniques that are vital to postgraduate study.\n\nThe close relationship between research and teaching is one of the great advantages of studying with us, and we welcome talented students from countries all over the world. Our staff are active researchers of international renown, and have acted as advisers and consultants to many international and national organisations, including the European Central Bank, the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the Central Bank of Poland, the Central Bank of Greece and a number of UK Government departments. Many of our academics also have experience as practitioners in industry.\n\nThe first year of this degree is shared with the following BSc degrees:\n\nBusiness Economics BSc\nEconomics and Data Analytics BSc\nEconomics BSc\nFinancial Economics and Banking BSc\nThis means that you have the option to switch to any of these courses at the end of your first year.",
