"summary": "Electrical and electronic engineering touches on almost every aspect of modern life, from communications to electrical power distribution and health care.\nIf you want to maintain and develop new technologies for our ever-changing world, this course will prepare you to do so. \nDemand for engineers is high, and this course combines academic studies with practical applications of engineering design to give you the technical and personal skills you will need to succeed as a professional engineer.\nThis three-year course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) with Partial Chartered Engineering status (Partial CEng). However, please note that our 1-year top-up course is not accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology.\n\nWhat you'll study\nOn this electrical and electronic engineering degree, we will teach you how to produce practical and innovative solutions to a variety of engineering problems. \nFrom day one you will be developing electronic circuits, from prototype design through to fully assembled PCBs (printed circuit boards). \nThe optional modules will give you the flexibility to focus on your chosen career path in fields such as:\n• electrical or electronic engineering\n• power engineering\n• communication systems\n• analogue systems \n• digital systems. \nThe final year project will give you the opportunity to consider an engineering problem in-depth and apply your knowledge. This will give you valuable experience in applying both your technical and professional skills.\nPractical laboratory sessions will help you put the taught theory into practice. You will have access to two large multipurpose electronics laboratories which provide specialist resources for electrical, electronics, communications and control and where you will be able to work with engineering-specific software such as OrCAD, AutoCAD, Inventor, MATLAB and LABVIEW.\nWe aim to create an environment where all students feel welcome. Our teaching staff are experts in their fields and they are dedicated to supporting your development in this exciting area of engineering.\n\nThe foundation year course is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to continue onto your Honours degree. You will study a range of subjects that will underpin your future study and also gain valuable experience of university life, with full access to campus facilities. Successful completion of the year allows you to progress straight onto Level 4 of this course.",
