"summary": "Electrical and electronic engineers design, develop, test and oversee new technologies. This can be to generate and process power as well as to create anything from drones and electric cars to the technology in smartphones, sat navs and systems in hospitals.\n\nOur course will give you the required engineering expertise for a career in engineering or in a variety of other professions. Through lab-based projects, working individually and in small teams, you'll bring together your numerical, analytical and technical knowledge to problem solve different situations.\n\nYou will spend year four in industry. You can apply for placements available to students on your course or can agree your own placement with an appropriate company. During your industrial year, you remain fully registered with the university, with regular meetings with your placement tutor.\n\nAll undergraduate students in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering initially follow a common programme of study, allowing them to change to a different plan up until the end of their third semester in year two. It is also possible to add or remove a year abroad and year in industry after joining the course. By year three, you can choose to specialise in the topics that interest you and suit your career aspirations.\n\nIf you are made an offer at MEng level, this will include a contextual offer for the BEng version of this course.
