"summary": "**Optional year in industry:** The year in industry option will help you gain valuable work experience which will help you enhance your graduate employability prospects. During your placement you develop transferable skills such as communication, negotiation, teamwork, leadership, organisation, problem-solving, being able to work under pressure, self-reliance and commercial awareness. At the end of your work placement you return to complete your degree and prepare to enter employment with improved confidence.\nOur work placement officer and the University’s careers service are available to help you find and apply for your work placement. Advice is also available on job hunting and networking.\n\n**Course overview**: This course includes a foundation year - ideal if you need additional preparation or if you don't have sufficient grades to join Year 1. The demand for clean energy specialists is on the rise. Study the production, storage and transmission of energy, focusing on renewable energy and transition fuels, ready for a career in this growing sector. \n\nAccording to the World Meteorological Organization, the supply of clean energy needs to double by 2030 if the world is to reach net zero targets by 2050, and the number of jobs in renewables is expected to reach 42m globally in this time.\n\nYou learn fundamental mechanical and electrical engineering principles and develop expertise in sustainable energy and clean technologies. Explore solar, wind, geothermal and tidal energy systems, transition fuels such as hydrogen, power storage, and distribution technologies.\n\nYou also gain commercial awareness, developing planning and project management skills to keep up to date with net zero innovation.\n\n**Top reasons to study this course**\n\n\n1.
