"modules": "Our Art and Design Master’s fosters experimentation, critical inquiry, and future-focused creative practice within a flexible and supportive learning environment. The course takes a transdisciplinary approach, encouraging you to work across disciplines and engage with emerging creative technologies such as AI and immersive design alongside traditional methods.\n\nWe emphasise the dynamic relationship between research and practice—how research informs creative work and how practice generates new knowledge. You will develop the skills to critically analyse, test, and apply research methodologies in ways that expand the possibilities of art and design.\n\nIn Part 1 (4 x 30 credits modules), you will focus on developing ideas, exploration, and innovation through a combination of taught modules and independent research. You will critically engage with contemporary debates in art and design, refine your conceptual and practical skills, and experiment with new approaches to creative practice. Hands-on engagement with research methodologies will help you test and apply different frameworks to your own work.\n\nIn Part 2 (1 x 60 credit module), you will showcase your work in a global context, creating opportunities for international encounters and dialogues around your research and practice. The module assessment is designed to prepare you for submitting a substantial research thesis as part of your final research portfolio. This phase allows you to position yourself within the professional, academic, and industry landscape, developing a distinctive voice while expanding the possibilities of art and design.\n\nThroughout the programme, you will be supported in questioning, reimagining, and pushing the boundaries of creative practice, preparing you for the evolving landscape of the creative industries.\n\nModules\n\nApproaches to Art & Design Research and Academic Communication (30 credits)\nArt & Design Practitioner Research Proposal (30 credits)\nQualitative Research Methods within the Creative Industries (30 credits)\nProfessional Discourses (30 credits)\nConfirmative Praxis (60 credits)",

Some modules therefore use a standard assessment pattern consisting of one or two longer essays and a presentation.\n\nIn some modules, however, student progress is assessed by using the portfolio format. The portfolio offers greater flexibility in the assessment of professionally focused skills, both collaborative and personalised, than the standard essay/presentation format.",
