We also ranked ninth for student satisfaction on our economics courses by the Complete University Guide 2020.\n\n**More about the course**\n\nThe foundation year is the starting point of your university journey, designed to prepare you for undergraduate study and future career success. It offers a supportive environment where you can develop confidence, strengthen your academic abilities and explore your chosen subject area before committing to degree-level learning.\n\nYou will study a wide range of content rooted in the social sciences, including themes such as identity, social justice and inequality. You will also be building vital skills in writing, presenting, critical thinking and independent learning. Alongside this, you will benefit from academic and pastoral support in class, online, in workshops and in one-to-one tutorials. To prepare you for the next stage, you’ll join six lecture or seminar sessions with tutors from your future course, giving you insight into your degree pathway.\n\nThe modules on this foundation year are shared between a number of other courses, allowing you to meet students with other academic interests and share ideas.\n\nFollowing your foundation year, which is also designed to improve your communication and writing skills, you’ll have the opportunity to examine subjects including economic growth and sustainability, financial markets, banking and financial crises, econometrics and more.\n\nIn Year 1, 2 and 3 of the course you will study the same core modules – and have access to the same optional modules – as those who study our Economics BSc (Hons) course.
