"summary": "This is a four year degree taught at our Hope Park campus. The Foundation Year aims to develop your skills so that after a year, you will be equipped with the necessary skills needed for studying the full BA Hons degree programme.\n\n**Musical Theatre**\nThe growth in importance and popularity of Musical Theatre in the last few years is staggering – being of significant importance to the economies of most of the UKs major cities. This trend of increasing revenue, performances and size of audiences continues to grow year-on-year and has significant impact on a regional, national and global level.\nThis new programme will allow the study of Musical Theatre from a performative, compositional as well as directorial/production vantage points.\nOn this course you will study the creative, conceptual interactions that exist between words, music and movement, underpinning the threefold performative relationships between music, dance and acting that communicate and express the art form.\nThis course will allow you to develop your:\n• performative skills across dance, singing and acting\n• ability to analyse past works of Musical Theatre\n• capacity to compose an original piece of Musical Theatre\n• techniques of direction and producing works of Musical Theatre\n• knowledge of the business management of Musical Theatre.\n\n**Politics**\nPolitics affects all of us. It is central to human life and human affairs. It is fundamental to how we organise and govern ourselves and to how we resolve conflicts. The decisions we make as political communities, who makes them and how, have consequences for how we live, from questions of war and peace, the distribution of wealth, our rights, freedoms, responsibilities, our access to education, transport and health care.\n\nIn this rapidly changing world, new challenges are constantly arising – from climate change to new technologies, from identity politics to Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic – and the study of politics needs to respond. At Liverpool Hope, therefore, we seek to engage with politics and political issues in the real world as they evolve and change over time. In doing so, we actively encourage debate and discussion amongst our students, encouraging a stronger awareness and appreciation of different points of view.\n\nOn this programme of study, you will explore key ideas, institutions and politics in an international, national and local context. You will be taught by staff who are experts in their field, who will teach you to engage with political research and develop the capacity to be an independent, critically-minded scholar. The course also aims to equip you with transferable skills to take into the world of work.",
