"modules": "Foundation Year (Year 0) \nIn this year the programme focuses on introductory psychology and the different approaches psychology has adopted theoretically and in research. \n\nYou will take the following compulsory modules:\nSocial and Developmental Psychology \nPsychology and Life\nPsychobiology and Cognitive Psychology \nResearch Methods and Experimental Design\n\nThere are also opportunities to get involved with work happening in our specialist and general-purpose research laboratories.\n\nIf you successfully achieve the progression requirements of the foundation year, you can continue with the full-time three-year BSc (Hons) Psychology degree. \n\n In years 1 and 2 learning will be structured across three interdisciplinary themes: \nMental Health and Wellbeing\nCognition and Culture\nLife and Society\n\nEach theme is supplemented by integrated Research Methods training, and Personal and Professional Development. \n\nYear 1 (credit level 4)\nYou will take the following compulsory modules:\nMental Health and Wellbeing I\nCognition and Culture I \nLife and Society I \nResearch Methods and Statistics I\nPersonal and Professional Development I\nApplications of Psychological Research\nIdentity, Environment and Agency\n\nYear 2 (credit level 5)\nYou'll study the following compulsory modules:\nMental Health and Wellbeing II\nCognition and Culture II \nLife and Society II \nResearch Methods and Statistics II\nPersonal and Professional Development II\nScience Communication in Psychology\n\nYou'll also select 1 option module from a list provided by the department.\n\nOptional placement year\nThe degree includes an optional placement year between the second and final year of study. You will be responsible for securing a placement, but we can support you through this process.\n\nThe placement year is a great opportunity for you to gain work experience, build confidence and contacts, develop your skills and industry insight, and enhance your career prospects.\n\nYou'll be supported throughout your placement year by a placement tutor, who will provide you with guidance and liaison between you and your employer.\n\nYear 3/4 (credit level 6)\nResearch dissertation\nIn your final year, you will carry out an individual research project under the close supervision of a member of faculty in the Department of Psychology.\n\nOption modules\nYou can also choose a bespoke selection of five option modules.
