"summary": "With more than 500 million native speakers, Spanish is the second most commonly spoken language in the world. Speaking Spanish will help you conduct business more confidently in countries that are becoming increasingly important in world markets. \n\nStudying with us will give you the chance to become a fluent linguist and, with our year abroad programme, an opportunity to experience living, working and/or studying in another country.\n\nRecognising and understanding customer requirements and the achievement of customer satisfaction are at the heart of marketing studies.\n\nOur department is widely recognised as one of the leading centres of marketing education and research in the UK. We aim to equip you for a variety of marketing and management careers.\n\nOur BA degrees in Humanities & Social Sciences are initially broad-based. In Year 1, you'll study three subjects, including your chosen subject(s).\n\nRanked Top 10 in Scotland for Iberian Languages (The Times/Sunday Times University Ranking 2025).\n\nThis course is part of our flexible BA Humanities and Social Science Degree programme. With our BA (Honours) degree you can choose from subjects in Humanities, Social Sciences and Business, with two of your three subject choices taught by the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences. \n\nThe BA degree is a three year course and the Honours degree is normally a four year course. This allows you to try new subjects, develop your own ideas, develop a broad range of knowledge and enhance your employability. \n\nYou should only enter one of the UCAS codes on your application form. Acceptance on one of these subject codes will enable you to study any combination of subjects. Only one application will be considered. "scrapedLanguageRaw": "We focus on the four important language skills:\nreading\nwriting\nspeaking\nlistening\nWe make great use of technology in the classroom – interactive lectures and digital language laboratories – and outside, through the use of web-based learning and streamed Spanish television.\nIn later years, you'll perform presentations, write reports and interpret into English, which prepares you for potential future careers.\nTeaching is given over two semesters in blocks of 12 weeks each. Methods include lectures, tutorials and seminars. As a student you will take part in team-based projects and make use of online teaching materials. Our industrial partners regularly assist in teaching and the assessment of student presentations.\nOur assessment methods include:\nwritten examinations, including translations\nwriting for a specific purpose\nessays\nContinuous assessment ranges from online grammar tests to group projects, while oral/aural tests are performed throughout the course. Students write a dissertation in their final year.\nThe majority of our classes are assessed by a final, unseen exam, supplemented by one or more forms of individual and/or group coursework.
