"summary": "BA Acting and Performance at Wimbledon College of Arts is for students who are interested in acting as an artistic practice and a key driver of contemporary culture.\n\nThe course will enable you to become a creative, confident and articulate storyteller. It will develop your physical, vocal and intellectual skills both individually and in an ensemble. You will be able to work across a variety of acting and performance forms and contexts.\n\nBA Acting and Performance will provide you with the opportunity to work with technologies and innovative performance practices. It will give you an insight into industry and prepare you to challenge pre-existing norms around identity, representation and modes of storytelling. You will be empowered to use your own stories and perspectives to remake the world of acting.\n\nAt Wimbledon College of Arts, we promote non-hierarchical theatre making which means that no single approach towards performance is seen as superior to another in terms of its ability to effect meaningful theatre. Shared units across our performance courses will enable you to make work and collaborate with other students.\n\n**What to expect**\n• Become a storyteller: Learn how to tell your own stories, bring marginalised as well as mainstream experiences to life, and present alternative realities through your performance practice.\n• Diverse performer training: Experiment with movement, voice and technologies and learn how to act in digital, interactive and immersive performances.\n• Collaborative performances: Take part in performances with students across disciplines and courses including costume, theatre design and production arts.\n• Characterisation: Learn how to embody a diverse range of characters and present believable personas.\n• Global perspective: Learn about diverse intercultural, world theatre and global performance practices.\n• Contextual understanding: Examine the politics of performance-making processes and learn how to develop an ethical and socially engaged practice.\n• Specialist training environment: Learn in Wimbledon's specialist performance studios including our theatre, technically enhanced studio, 3D lab, sound studios and rehearsal studios.\n\n**About Wimbledon College of Arts**
\nWimbledon College of Arts is dedicated to the study of stage and screen performance. The College has a long tradition of providing world class teaching in technical arts for theatre, film and television. Our courses include acting, costume, digital production, theatre design and puppetry. Wimbledon College of Arts has well established industry links. These include 2 of the United Kingdom's leading theatres: the National and the Lyric.\n\nWe believe in a non-hierarchical and inclusive approach to performance. That means we see all elements as equal partners. Whether it be acting, directing, writing or designing.\n\nCollaborative performance is a key part of the experience at Wimbledon. We design many of our course projects with that in mind. Students often work in teams to produce theatre, performance and other live events. This reflects working practices within the industry.\n\nOur facilities include specialist workshops, studios and an on-site professional theatre. In 2023 we completed a multimillion-pound investment programme to transform Wimbledon College of Arts into a world-leading centre for performance. These improvements will enable us to nurture performance talent of the future.\n\nWe want to develop your creativity, technical ability and professionalism. It is these qualities that enable many of our graduates to go on to have successful careers. Our alumni include costume designer Lorna Mugan, production designer Sarah Greenwood and set designers Simon Costin and Soutra Gilmour.",
