It provides an opportunity for you to develop wide and in-depth skills, training and knowledge in archaeology. If you choose this pathway you'll have different module options to the main study route, outlined below.\n\nStage 1:\n\nYou take all compulsory modules then select two from a list of optional modules.\n\nCompulsory modules currently include the following:\n\nPower and Persuasion: The Classical World;\nClassical Archaeology: Great Sites, Key Issues;\nTyranny and Transformation: The Roman World;\nMigration, Slavery and Identity in the Ancient World.\n\nOptional modules may include the following:\n\nClassical Mythology: Themes and Approaches to Ancient Greek Myth;\nAncient Egypt: Key Sites and Material Culture;\nArchaeology: The Essentials;\nBeginners' Ancient Languages 1;\nBeginners' Ancient Languages 2;\nClassical Literature;\nRome in the First Century AD: The Global City from Augustus to Domitian.\n\nStage 2:\n\nYou take all compulsory modules then select three optional modules, which must include at least one of the following: The Rise and Fall of Athens, War and Imperialism in Ancient Rome c.350 - 100 BC, Egypt and the Classical World.\n\nIf you wish to take an internship during the Spring or Summer term, you must take either Heritage Studies - Exploring Key Debates or Museum Studies - Exploring Key Debates in the term before.\n\nCompulsory modules currently include the following:\n\nRemaking the Past: Antiquity in the Present;\nThe Engagement Project.\n\nOptional modules may include the following:\n\nTyranny and Transformation: The Roman World\nEgypt and the Classical World;\nEveryday Life in the Roman Empire;\nGender and Sexuality in Roman Society;\nGreek and Roman Art and Architecture;\nHomeric Epic;\nIntermediate Ancient Languages 1;\nIntermediate Ancient Languages 2;\nMuseum Studies - Exploring Key Debates;\nMuseum Studies - Internships;\nThe Rise and Fall of Athens;\nRome to Byzantium: the World of Late Antiquity;\nVirgil's Aeneid;\nWar and Imperialism in Ancient Rome, 350 - 100 BCE;\nHeritage Studies - Internships;\nHeritage Studies - Exploring Key Debates.\n\nStage 3:\n\nYou will complete a dissertation on your chosen pathway topic and then select four optional modules. You will be introduced to archaeological equipment in our state-of-the-art archaeology lab, and will have the opportunity to build your network of professional contacts within the industry.
