"summary": "The BA (Hons) Creative Practice: Millinery course at Morley College London is a flexible full and part-time programme offering a millinery-specific and multidisciplinary creative education. It equips students with core millinery production skills, personal, and professional development through individual and collaborative projects, culminating in a final independently conceived project to empower their creative direction and career aspirations. \n\nIn the first and second years (Level 4), students gain and develop a solid grounding in millinery, additionally focusing on wider skills of analysis, reflection, research, and digital competencies. Collaborative projects introduce the dynamic nature of the creative industries and build essential capabilities for multidisciplinary work. \n\nThe third and fourth years (Level 5) encourages experimentation of students’ millinery skills through live project briefs and work-based learning with established professionals. Students further define their creative identity, applying their skills in individual and team-based projects. By exploring the context and applications of creative practice, they refine their direction and gain practical tools for societal and industry engagement.\n\nIn years five and six (Level 6), students independently design and deliver a major creative project, supported by a research methods module and professional development opportunities. This stage emphasises iterative processes like design, prototyping, collaboration, and presentation, empowering students to confidently situate their practice within the creative industries. Final year millinery students can exhibit their work within one of the Morley exhibition spaces. \n\nThroughout the course, students are encouraged to explore, innovate, and apply their millinery and wider creativity skills to real-world challenges, shaping their ambitions in a supportive, individual and multidisciplinary environment. By the programme’s conclusion, graduates are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to thrive in the creative industries and contribute meaningfully to society. \n\nThe course has close industry links with The British Hat Guild, Lock & Co Hatters, the English National Opera millinery department and the Worshipful Company of Feltmakers, all of whom provide career development support and opportunities for our students.
