"summary": "**Course overview**\n\nOur BA (Hons) Chinese Studies (with Foundation Year) is perfect if you want to study Chinese at degree level but don't have the right qualifications.\n\nOn the foundation year, you'll be introduced to essential academic skills to help you succeed in higher education. You'll also explore the historical, cultural and linguistic aspects of Chinese studies. No previous knowledge of Chinese is needed.\n\nYou'll gain critical skills in research, intercultural communication and global awareness. Alongside this you'll explore language, politics and society in depth.\n\nWhen you successfully complete the foundation year, you'll progress onto BA (Hons) Chinese Studies. From Year 1 you'll immerse yourself in the Chinese language, culture and society. You'll learn to master Chinese (Mandarin) and even have the chance to spend a year abroad.\n\n**Why study this course**\n\n\n- You'll focus on learning intercultural and language skills, preparing you for a career in a truly global world.\n\n\n- Get the opportunity to explore a wide range of issues like environmentalism, law and political systems through a Chinese studies lens.\n\n\n- There is an emphasis on digital literacy and independent research.
