This means both subjects will be studied equally.**\n\n**Creative Writing**\nCreative Writing at Liverpool Hope will give you the chance to experience the joys of crafting the written word. The degree focuses on developing you as a writer of poetry and prose (fiction and non-fiction), broadly within the field of literature (poems, short stories, novels, long-form essays). Some professional writing - reviews, blogs and articles for different kinds of media - is also studied. Our focus on creativity and employability means you will be able to produce engaging, innovative and marketable texts.\n\nBy studying Creative Writing, you will be empowered with an enhanced command of your craft, increased confidence in expressing your thoughts and emotions, an understanding of the values that inform your writing practice, and the technical skillset to deliver your work to various audiences. Your writing will be enhanced by studying under celebrated writers and academics, as well as developing a range of workplace skills to prepare for fulfilling careers.\n\n**History**\nThe study of History helps you to understand how individuals, communities and societies have lived in the past and how those past experiences have helped to shape the present world. History helps us make sense of our world and understand what may lie ahead because the future is shaped by its history in so many ways. Our History degree gives you the opportunity to study a wide-range of historical periods from the Early Modern period to more recent contemporary historical events.\n\nBy studying with us, you have the opportunity to study the Tudors; Witchcraft; the court of Charles I; the British civil wars; the British Empire; European Nationalism and Imperialism; the birth of Modern Europe; The British Empire; Gender politics; Fascism, Nazism and the Holocaust; British-Irish relations and the Northern Ireland conflict; the role of food in human conflict; the Spanish Civil War; and Museum and Heritage studies.\n\nYou will engage with a wide variety of historical evidence throughout the whole of your degree programme. History at Liverpool Hope is part of the supportive and friendly environment within the subject areas of History, Politics and International Relations.
