"summary": "**Our film production courses rank in the UK top 20 overall in their subject area** (The Guardian University Guide, 2026).\n\nOn this highly practical course, you study ‘hands on’ in our state-of-the-art TV studios, using a range of industry-standard camera, sound, lighting and editing equipment. At the end of your three years, you will be multiskilled, industry-ready practitioners. Employability is a core feature of this course: it is our job to help you break into TV and film and we work with you to develop industry links and find paid work or internships during your time with us.\n\n**Foundation Year**\nIn the Foundation year you will study three days per week. The focus will be on academic writing skills and numeracy, plus subject-specific content to fully prepare you for entry to an Undergraduate degree. The course has been designed to develop your skills and to prepare you for entry onto the first year of your chosen course. It provides a balance between content related to your chosen subject and the range of wider skills required for undergraduate study. This is an integrated four-year degree, with the foundation year as a key part of the course. You will be required to pass the foundation year in order to progress to the first year of your BA (Hons) degree. This course is ideal for those who do not meet our standard entry requirements or those with a non-standard educational background. It will allow you to graduate with a full undergraduate degree in your chosen subject in four years. \n\n**Facilities and Specialist Equipment**\n- High-spec multi-camera television studios.\n\n\n- Specialist make-up studios. \n\n\n- 3D green-screen room. \n\n\n- Digital video-editing suites including Adobe Creative Cloud software (Premier Pro). \n\n\n- Netflix-approved Sony FX6 cameras for broadcast-quality film and television content. \n\n\n- Sony FX3 Cinema Line camera with full-frame sensor and enhanced mobility for easy solo hand-held shooting. \n\n\n- Industry-standard sound and lighting equipment.\n\n\n**Your Student Experience**\n- Learn how to create content on location and in the studio, and how to pitch, write, produce and direct film and TV programming. \n\n\n- Learn from an academic team who are also TV and film industry professionals. \n\n\n- Take on live creative briefs through our links with the local film and TV community, including Luton Culture and Clearhead Production. \n\n\n- Take up work experience opportunities at industry organisations including the BBC (The One Show and Radio 1). \n\n\n- Broadcast your own work and assist with the running of a TV studio through BedsTV, the University’s student-run online television channel. \n\n\n- Engage directly with the industry through networking events, guest talks and workshops with film professionals. \n\n\n- Build your professional knowledge through field trips to notable film and TV studios such as Pinewood, Sky and BBC Broadcasting House. \n\n\n- Benefit from regular opportunities to meet visiting, industry-active professionals.
