"summary": "Studying History with us offers you the chance to learn about an impressive sweep of time and place, including ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, the medieval world, the Tudors, the Americas, China and India, global conflict and revolution in the modern era. You’ll be taught by historians who have a wealth of expertise, with leading researchers working across diverse approaches to the past, focussing on social, cultural, political and military topics and contemporary heritage practice. Along with developing your academic skills, we encourage students to work with both their tutors and the wider community in producing original research projects with 'real world' impact. With this wealth of expertise behind us, we can ensure your learning is not only relevant, but cutting edge.\n\nOur programme is flexible and allows you to develop your own specialisms as a historian. You will have the chance to study modules covering a variety of different periods, spanning the ancient to the modern world, and a wide geographical range, including Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. You’ll be introduced to a variety of approaches to studying History, learning not just about famous historical events, but how to research the lives of ordinary people and those who were marginalised in the past.\n\nThis course has a foundation year available.\n\n**Features and Benefits**\n- We are one of the largest centres for historical study in the UK.\n\n\n- Each year offers increasing levels of flexibility with a broad range of option modules, so you can choose to specialise in areas that interest you.\n\n\n- The Independent History Project allows you to pursue your own interests in your final year. \n\n\n=- Take advantage of the opportunity to undertake collaborative projects with museums, art galleries or other external partners, equipping you with practical 'real world' experience and helping you to gain a competitive edge in the graduate jobs market.\n\n\n- Our assessments develop the essential skills you’ll need as a historian - as a problem solver, critical thinker, researcher and writer. They also embrace practical exercises which may include placements, documentary filmmaking, group projects, and the practice of public history.\n\n\n- Work on assessments developed in conjunction with national and local employers, giving you essential skills and experience for the graduate job market.\n\n\n- The Department of History, Politics and Philosophy has a wealth of expertise, with leading researchers whose published work covers a wide range of times and places, and this research underpins all of our teaching.\n\n\n- The department is home to the Manchester Centre for Public History and Heritage, which has strong professional links and partnerships with heritage and cultural institutions. \n\n\n- You will have the opportunity to spend your third year on an industry placement or study overseas. \n",
