Through being introduced to new mathematical concepts not explored at school level, you will develop a rigorous mindset, and by the end of your programme, you will specialise in an area of your particular mathematical interest.\n\nThis new way of approaching and analysing complex problems is a particularly valuable skill, and will serve you well throughout your degree programme and beyond.\n\nThis MMath Mathematics programme is a challenging five-year programme that takes you to masters level. It is designed for those who want to study in more depth, or who might want to use advanced mathematics in their careers or in research. You can choose to specialise in a particular aspect of mathematics or study courses from across the broad range offered by the school.\n\n**Option courses**\n\nIn Years 1 and 2, in addition to your compulsory mathematics courses, you will study courses in other subjects. These may be in related areas such as physics or informatics, or from the wide and varied range offered across the University, such as philosophy or languages.\n\nFrom Year 3 onwards, you will study only your degree subject.\n\n**Flexibility between BSc and MMath**\n\nYou can change between the BSc and MMath programmes up until the beginning of Year 4, subject to strong academic performance.\n\n**Programme benefits**\n\n\n* You will study your subject in depth to masters level.\n\n\n* Our teaching fosters interactive engagement that promotes long-term understanding.
