"summary": "Our approach to the English & Creative Writing course is innovative, modern and friendly, giving you a comprehensive understanding of English literature as a core basis for your creative work.\n\nThe emphasis is on helping you develop a range of skills to grow your future career, including textual analysis and interpretation. With us, you can study everything from poetry, the novel and drama (stage, screen and radio) as you would expect on an English and Creative Writing degree. In addition, at Strathclyde, we offer the opportunity to use creative writing skills as part of your approach to literary criticism.\n\nFrench is a major international language. It is the first language of more than 100 million people across the world, while more than 60 million people speak French as a second language.\n\nStudying with us will give you the chance to become a fluent linguist and, with our year abroad programme, an opportunity to experience living, working and/or studying in another country.\n\nRanked Top 10 in the UK for English (The Times/Sunday Times University Ranking 2025) and Top 10 in the UK for Creative Writing (Complete University Guide 2025); Ranked Top 10 in Scotland for French (Complete University Guide 2025).\n\nThis course is part of our flexible BA Humanities and Social Science Degree programme. With our BA (Honours) degree you can choose from subjects in Humanities, Social Sciences and Business, with two of your three subject choices taught by the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences. \n\nThe BA degree is a three year course and the Honours degree is normally a four year course. This allows you to try new subjects, develop your own ideas, develop a broad range of knowledge and enhance your employability. \n\nYou should only enter one of the UCAS codes on your application form.
