Our Foundation Year courses will help you to develop the skills and knowledge you will need to succeed in your chosen degree.\n\nApplicants who have been in education in the last three years will be expected to provide an academic reference as part of their UCAS application.\n\nApplicants who have applied for a place on a professional programme who have studied the same or similar programme elsewhere, will be required to provide an academic reference relating to that study regardless of when this study was undertaken. This does not have to be provided with the UCAS application but will be requested if the applicant is suitable for interview.",

"summary": "This dynamic, interactive, professional course places the needs of patients and their families, and Adult Nursing practice, at its centre. Our team are committed to supporting you to realise your potential to become a compassionate, competent and autonomous adult nurse, able to meet current and future healthcare demands.\n\nThe course is delivered by experienced registered nurses who have expertise in both teaching and research, all four fields of nursing, and a variety of clinical specialities, including district nursing, health visiting, medical, surgery and critical and intensive care. We work closely with local acute and community providers, ensuring that the course remains contemporary.\n\nPractical learning in our state-of-the-art skills labs, supported by key theoretical knowledge, will prepare you for placements in hospitals during your course, ensuring you gain real, hands-on experience. You will learn how to assess, plan and evaluate the needs of patients with complex acute and long-term illness, promote health and wellbeing, and communicate effectively with professional colleagues and service users. You will learn to become an adaptable, flexible practitioner who will be able to lead care, supervise others and work in a demanding and rapidly changing environment.\nFoundation Year courses have been designed for students who do not have the necessary academic qualifications needed to enter directly into the first year of a degree but who have the ability and commitment to do so. \n\nTeaching of this Foundation Year will be at our Chester campus. Once the Foundation Year has been completed successfully, you can then proceed onto the accredited nursing course.",
