"summary": "The terms ‘Computer Graphics, Vision and Games’ cover a wide range of topics within the computing industry and the modern world. While computer games are the most well-known aspect of this area, what many people do not know is the underlying complexity of a relatively simple application.\n\nIn completion of this degree, you will gain a firm foundation in computing skills such as programming, software design, data storage, analysis and classification. You will also learn specialised skills in the areas of vision and graphics, and interact with related areas of study such as intelligent agents and mobile computing. \n\nAt Aberystwyth University, we endeavour to provide you with an exceptional and memorable student experience. The degree is accredited by the **BCS (Chartered Institute for IT) on behalf of the Engineering Council,** which gives you a head start when you enter the competitive job market. \n\nYou will have Access to Linux, Mac OS X laboratories and central servers and robotic equipment such as Ardvinos, mobile robots and sailing robots. You will be taught by lecturers whose research speciality is computer vision, and who have connections with the industry and software engineering conferences.\n\nYour first year will introduce you to programming, computer infrastructure and web development. You will go on to study various programming languages, database design, machine learning, computer vision and development processes, techniques and technologies for constructing real operational software. \n\nEmployability skills are the core values of our degree. As part of your degree, you will be required to take part in a residential weekend where you and other students will have work in teams to solve problems. This activity will encourage and improve your skills in: communication, analysis, time management, independent and group-based working, organisation, implementation, research and technical skills. The University operates a Year in Employment Scheme (YES) and GO Wales. You have the option to take a year out between your second and third year to work in an organisation in the UK or overseas. YES is very rewarding and a worthwhile experience.
