"summary": "**Language is the element within which we live and move. To understand language is to understand what it means to be human and to empower ourselves as human beings.**\n\nIn the 21st century, as professional work becomes ever more specialised and shaped by the demands of the digital world, there will be a corresponding need for the next generation of graduates to become highly skilled communicators with a capacity to speak and write effectively, eloquently and with cultural sensitivity and technological sophistication – across a range of different media.\n\nThe Linguistics and Philosophy degree will address these issues explicitly by developing your knowledge and understanding of linguistic and other meaning-making practices in their most fundamental forms. You will study the nature of language, the relationship between language, thought and meaning, understand the relationship between communication, dialogue, and self-knowledge across of range of global philosophical perspectives, as well as develop an understanding of the psychological, medical, social, and cultural dimensions of contemporary communications processes and practices.\n\nWith these to the fore, the course will offer a fully interdisciplinary approach to the study of Linguistics and Philosophy and explain the complex interrelations that exist between the logical, psychological ethical, social, political, and digital dimensions of language in its multivariate forms.
