If you are looking to apply to our undergraduate BEd. programme, please visit the UCAS Conservatoire: https://www.rcs.ac.uk/courses/bachelor-of-education-music-hons/.**\n\nAs a participant on the PGDE (Music) programme, you will join a vibrant and diverse community sharing in a journey of professional enquiry designed to enhance your practice as an arts educator.\n\nThe Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (Music) is a vocational, one-year professional programme for graduates who aspire to teach classroom music in schools. On this programme, you will engage with intensive studies in education (professional studies) and 90 days of school placement. There are also opportunities to develop your music skills through complimentary placement studies in areas that will support your work in the classroom. \n\nFollowing graduation, you will qualify for provisional registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS). All eligible graduates are guaranteed a probationary year of classroom music teaching in a Scottish secondary school. GTCS standards are recognised and highly regarded in the UK and internationally. \n\n**Curriculum Review** \nWe are currently in the review cycle for our postgraduate programmes starting in 2026, these courses are currently designated 'subject to validation'. This is standard practice during curriculum review periods. The outcome of this process, may mean there are some changes to how your programme is delivered.",

All applicants whose first language is not English will be required to provide evidence that their English language level meets the entrance requirements for their chosen programme.\nIf you require a student visa to study in the UK, UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) require a minimum of B2 standard on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in all four components (reading, writing, speaking, listening). Equivalent to an IELTS overall score of 5.5 with 5.5 in every component. RCS is required to obtain evidence of your English language ability before we can sponsor your visa application. You do not need to provide this at the point of application or audition but please ensure you leave yourself enough time to meet the required English language level. RCS reserves the right to ask for additional evidence if there are any concerns over your English language level.\nThe majority of RCS programmes have higher English language requirements than the UKVI required level (CEFR level B2) and you will also need to meet these higher requirements.
