"summary": "**About the course**\n\nBSc Speech and Language Therapy prepares you for a rewarding career working with people who have communication and swallowing disorders in healthcare and education settings. This pre registration programme equips you with the knowledge, skills and professional values required to practise as a Speech and Language Therapist across the lifespan.\n\nThe course is accredited and approved by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and the Health and Care Professions Council. Successful graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the HCPC and practise as autonomous Speech and Language Therapists. You may also be eligible to apply for a £5000 NHS bursary. Typical development of Speech and Language skills will be taught with milestones across the lifespan, discussing different theories of language acquisition and highlighting the importance of considering development as a whole. Although conditions will be grouped into acquired disorders, a lifespan approach is adopted, appreciating that acquired disorders can occur in childhood and adulthood, and that age can have an impact on disease progression, treatment options and outcomes.
