"summary": "PE teachers can transform young people's lives. On this course, you will gain a thorough understanding of Physical Education (PE) in schools and wider communities, which will allow you to make a real difference to the development of young people. Throughout this Foundation Degree, you will develop your teaching, learning and leadership skills, enabling you to become a highly employable expert on PE and school sport. It aims to develop subject knowledge and understanding of the concepts, processes and content of the National Curriculum for Physical Education (PE) in primary, secondary and further education.\n\nOver the duration of the course, you will develop skills in a range of sports including traditional sports, aquatics and outdoor adventure, benefiting from learning at world class sports facilities such as the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield. You’ll also have the opportunity to achieve a range of additional qualifications such as NGB Level 1 and 2 Coaching Awards, alongside the 1st4sport Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport. You will be supported to gain experience of working in primary and secondary school settings, all of which will allow you to secure various paid roles in a PE school setting.\n\nIn undertaking this course, you will have the opportunity to inspire young people to get active and develop essential life skills through PE and school sport. This will enable you to play a pivotal role in improving young people’s physical, social and emotional development. You will develop your personal and interpersonal qualities that prepare you to be a skilful practitioner in educational settings. You will also explore contemporary issues that influence the wider context of PE and school sport, putting you in the privileged position of being able to transform the lives of young people.\n\nYour primary location of study will be Hillsborough Campus but some of the course will also be delivered at external venues:\nThe Sheffield College, City Campus (Games - Practical Activities Module)\nSheffield Workshop Gymnastics, London Road (Gymnastics - Practical Activities Module)\nOAA facilities, inc. a residential in the Peak/Lake District (Outdoor And Adventurous Activities Module)\nEnglish Institute of Sport, Sheffield (Applied Athletic, Aquatic And Dance Activities Module)\nHillsborough Leisure Centre (Applied Athletic, Aquatic And Dance Activities Module)\n\nApplicants who study a SHU-validated Foundation Degree will receive an offer for their designated full time honours degree progression route at Sheffield Hallam University provided that they submit an application via UCAS within the deadline. \nThe offer of a place on the Level 6 BSc(Hons) PE and School Sport degree made by the University will be subject to:\nSuccessful completion of the Foundation Degree programme and a minimum average grade of 55% at Level 5 \nSubmission of a satisfactory personal statement and reference\nMeeting the University's literacy and numeracy requirements\nSatisfying any additional specific course requirements for entry to the designated progression route (eg., successful completion of associated transition studies, portfolio, interview or any non-academic conditions)\nUpon completion of the full BSc(Hons) PE and School Sport, you will be in a strong position to apply for teacher training and postgraduate study, such as:\nPGCE Primary or Secondary\nInitial Teacher Training (School’s Direct)\nPostgraduate study (eg various Masters degrees in Sport, Physical Activity, and Education)",
