Students will have access to the Learning Resource Centre at our Owens Road campus and learning materials, books and journals will be available online and through our VLE (Moodle). Students are responsible for their own purchase of text books. Where travel to other sites is required, this will be payable by the student. Where students fail to return loaned items within the required time they will be responsible for the cost of any library fees and fines applicable. The cost of printing and photocopying undertaken by students to support their individual learning (beyond the allowance provided by the College) is payable by the student.",

"summary": "This course is designed for those working in schools with children from Early Years through to secondary age who have additional needs. Classes are offered at two locations: Peter Symonds College Adult & HE Campus in Winchester or Queen's Park Academy in Bournemouth. Attendance is one day a week (1.30-7.30pm), allowing students to continue working alongside study.\n\nStudents on this course will explore a variety of contemporary topics and issues, such as behaviour management, social pedagogy and inclusive education. They will also carry out research relevant to their workplace.\n\nThis programme is quality assured by Middlesex University and you will receive a Middlesex award on successful completion.\n\nWhat Will I Study?\nStudents on this course will examine policy, research and practice in childhood education, provision and care. \n\nYear 1 modules:\n\nDeveloping and enhancing academic skills\nSupporting curriculum delivery\nDeveloping education and pedagogical approaches\nResearch skills\nTeaching and professionalism\nYear 2 modules: \n\nAssessment in the curriculum\nSafeguarding, working with families and professionals\nSocial pedagogy\nSEND and inclusive education\nEducational ethics and methodologies \nUnderstanding and managing behaviour\nYou should expect to complete a minimum of least 4 or 5 hours additional work outside attendance at college per week.
