"summary": "This one year programme is designed to extend the skills, knowledge and understanding that underpin the study of sport. Students will develop a sound understanding of the principles in their field and will learn to apply these principles more widely. It is aimed at students wanting to continue their education through applied learning and who want to pursue or advance their career in sport. The skills offered on this course can provide graduates with the opportunity to work in many different areas of the sport sector including Community Sport & Physical Activity, Leisure Management, PE Teaching and Sports Therapy. The course is a seven unit BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma, which includes:\n\n• Research Project\n• Entrepreneurism in Sport\n• Sport, Health and Society\n• Performance Analysis\n• Advanced Coaching\n• Teaching Practice\n• Event Management\n\nPlease note - units are subject to change.\n\nThis course requires an up-to-date DBS check to be in place, which can only be applied for through the college. Fees for the DBS check are set by the government and are payable to the college.\n\nFor Home and EU students, a loan from the Student Loans Company is available to support learners with fees if applied for. These fees cover the overall costs of the course, including sports kits, guest speakers and day trips.\n\nYou will be expected to take part in practical sport and coaching activities regularly throughout the course. You will be expected to gain coaching and sports development experience through the coaching and organisation of some of the sports teams within the College. In addition to this, work experience placements will be offered with local employers, giving you valuable access to experienced practitioners of sports coaching and sports development as well as an opportunity to develop your own skills and knowledge.\n\nDuring your time on the course you will have the chance to attend extra residential activities. These may include:\n• Football (male and female)\n• Racket sports\n• Ski/snowboarding\n• Basketball\n• Netball\n• Volunteering Abroad (Morocco/Thailand)\n\nThere is an extra cost for these activities.\n\nYou will also have the opportunity to complete additional qualifications that have been tailor made to support your studies and progression.
