"assessmentMethods": "A range of assessment methods are used across the programme. Assessments relate directly to learning outcomes and one assessment tends to cover more than one learning outcome. In designing and deciding upon an assessment format for a module the following factors have been considered:\n\nThe module learning outcomes and their level, with particular emphasis on the student’s ability to analyse and communicate information from:\n\n\nmodule content\nlearned knowledge from other areas/qualifications\nexperience\nthe implementation of systematic information-seeking strategies\nEncouraging students to apply their skills to specific problems\nApproaching problems in a systematic way and employing test approaches to resolve them\nAssessment performance criteria, as communicated to the student\nThe validity and reliability of the assessment methods, which are monitored by module leaders and programme teams\nTime constraints (for students and staff) and the need to ensure consistency\nThe use of a range of strategies through which a student can demonstrate what they know\n\nAssignment submissions are divided across the academic year where possible, however there are certain times of the year where students can expect ‘busy’ periods (e.g. end of semester). An assessment matrix is designed early in the academic year and distributed to students.
