"suggest": "Children and Young People's Nursing. University of Bedfordshire. Nursing. Childrens nursing",
"summary": "A nurse needs to be able to assess care needs then plan, implement and evaluate care for children and young people with a wide range of illnesses and conditions. This calls for excellent communication skills and compassion as well as specialist knowledge and nursing skills, all of which you acquire from this degree. It is designed to give you high levels of hands-on experience in hospital and community settings, with 50% of your time spent in practice settings.\n\n**Course Accreditation/Industry Endorsement**\n- All our Nursing and Midwifery courses are regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). On successful completion of your course, you can register with the NMC as a children’s nurse. \n\n**Facilities and Specialist Equipment**\n- Access to the latest equipment and facilities at district general hospitals and community health settings during placements. \n\n\n- On campus, a fully immersive simulation suite, preparing students to respond to and manage clinical situations and scenarios including: \n\n\n- a five-bedded simulation ward with a range of medical-grade training mannequins, including an infant mannequin, to tackle real-life scenarios in a safe and supported environment. \n\n\n- a skills room to practise clinical skills such as basic life support; venepuncture and cannulation; and catheterisation. \n\n\n- an immersive room where we can project a background, such as a tube station, to practise simulation in different environments safely.\n\n\n- a social living space for practise in nursing children and young people within the community. This living space consists of a children’s bedroom with a bunk bed; bathroom; baby’s room; parents’ room; and a kitchen/diner/sitting room. \n\n\n- a debriefing room \n\n\n**Partnerships and Collaborations**\n- To ensure your learning meets the benchmark set for care providers, our healthcare courses have been developed in collaboration with regional healthcare providers and health authorities. \n\n**Your Student Experience**\n- Work in partnership with a multi-professional team to deliver nursing care to children, young people and their families, learning how to prioritise the wellbeing and safety of children. \n\n\n- We deliver predominantly face-to-face teaching so your tutors are on site to support you while you get to meet and exchange ideas with other healthcare students. \n\n\n- Our strong links with regional healthcare providers mean you can secure a local practice placement in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire or East London. \n\n\n- Our lecturers are all experienced registered nurses and have published widely in their field. \n\n\n- Clinical specialists from our partnership trusts come to campus to support your learning so your studies are underpinned by the latest research and practice. \n\n\n- On placement, you undertake a mix of early, late and night shifts to ensure you experience typical shift patterns for a healthcare professional. \n\n\n- Our Bedford campus is a small, thriving academic community where academic staff get to know you well.\n",
