"assessmentMethods": "Your learning on the programme will be split between theory in the classroom and clinical practice in a range of placements and in the Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC).\n\nYou will develop theoretical knowledge through a variety of ‘blended learning’ approaches including lectures, seminars, group work, guided independent study, online learning, reflective practice and through preparation for a variety of assessments. You will be taught by expert staff and learn alongside adult and mental health nursing students, and students from other health and care professions.\n\nYou will gain practical skills and experience through a range of clinical placements, such as community mental health teams, inpatient mental health services, primary care (general practice) and private, voluntary and independent services. You will also undertake placements focusing on physical care. You will be supported, supervised and assessed during placements by both clinical and academic staff.\n\nYou will also spend a significant amount of time learning in our state-of-the-art CSC. These brand new facilities include realistic community and in-hospital settings. Here you will safely practice clinical skills with other students, service users, carers, role players and hi-tech patient simulators under the guidance of experienced clinical and academic staff.\n\nYou will also have the opportunity to organise an elective placement in the UK or abroad.",

"summary": "**About the course**\n\nBSc Mental Health Nursing prepares you to support the mental health and wellbeing of individuals across a range of settings. Ranked in the top 10 in the UK for Nursing (Guardian University Guide 2024) and 2nd in the UK for student satisfaction (Complete University Guide 2025), the programme takes a holistic approach to both physical and mental health.\n\nOn successful completion, you will be eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Mental Health Nurse. Throughout the course, you will work towards meeting NMC standards of proficiency and develop the values of the NHS Constitution, including compassion, dignity and respect.\n\nYou will gain an in-depth understanding of how the body and mind work, how to support people to maintain health, and how to care for individuals with long-term and acute mental health conditions. Your professional skillset will include health assessment, holistic care planning, evidence based practice, medication management, communication, teamwork and leadership.\n\nHome students are eligible for a non repayable £5,000 NHS bursary per academic year, with additional support available in certain circumstances.\n\n**What you’ll study**\n\nYou will develop knowledge in mental health nursing practice, life sciences and health promotion, building confidence in clinical reasoning and professional relationships.\n\nModules may include:\n\n• Foundations of Mental Health Nursing\n\n• Fundamentals of Life Sciences\n\n• Promoting Health and Preventing Ill-Health\n\n• Practice Learning\n\nModules are subject to validation by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).\n\n**How you’ll learn**\n\nYour training combines classroom study with immersive practical experience. Teaching includes lectures, seminars, group work, online learning and reflective practical sessions led by experienced academics and clinicians.\n\nYou will practise in purpose-built Clinical Simulation Centres before applying your skills on placement. Learning places equal emphasis on physical and mental health, reflecting modern integrated healthcare services.\n\nProfessional placements are a core part of the programme and take place across NHS Trusts, community health services, primary care, mental health providers and specialist settings. An elective placement abroad may also be available.\n\n**Future opportunities**\n\nA BSc Mental Health Nursing from Roehampton opens pathways across health and care, including roles in:\n\n• Community mental health teams\n\n• Hospitals and inpatient mental health services\n\n• Primary care and specialist services\n\n• Prisons and secure environments\n\n• Research and education\n\n**Facilities**\n\nYou will train in the Clinical Simulation Centre at Froebel College, including the Froebel Ward, mock consulting rooms and simulated home environments equipped with high-tech patient simulators.\n\nYou will also use the Mary Seacole Health Innovation Centre, providing a realistic and supportive environment to develop your skills before applying them in real-world placements.",
