"summary": "Study human health and the causes, prevention and treatment of disease, studied from the molecular details in the body to the symptoms and pathology of diseases.\n\nThis course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to be a part of the next generation of biomedical research scientists.\n\nYou’ll learn to apply biological sciences to explore human health and the causes, prevention and treatment of diseases such as cancer and Parkinson’s disease. You'll study a broad range of topics including genetics, genomics, human physiology, cancer, pathology, infection and immunity, molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry and pharmacology.\n\nBenefit from multi-departmental teaching:\nDeveloped in collaboration with our Department for Health and pharmacology researchers in the Department of Life Sciences, you'll benefit from specialist knowledge of human biology and pharmacology, providing you with a more in-depth understanding of biomedical sciences.\n\nIn the first two years, you will study a set of core units across both departments, with the opportunity to choose optional units in the second and penultimate year.\n\nIf you want a more in-depth study experience, you could consider applying for our MBiomed (Hons) Biomedical Sciences course.\n\nUndertake a dedicated research project:\nIn your final year, you’ll carry out your own research project, giving you first-hand experience as a researcher and the opportunity to contribute to the leading research of our academics.
