"summary": "The Masters in Children's Literature & Literacies is the first programme in Scotland dedicated to children’s and young adult’s literature as a primary resource and a field of academic study. You will develop a specialisation that is highly valued in professions such as education, library services and children’s media.\n\n**WHY THIS PROGRAMME**\n- The programme gives you the opportunity to take a literary and critical stance to well-loved texts, as well as to contemporary authors whose texts push the boundaries of children’s literature.\n\n\n- You will investigate new developments in the production of texts for children using multimodal forms and digital technologies.\n\n\n- You will discuss recent theories of language and literacy development and consider how they can be supported by traditional and multimodal texts for children.\n\n\n- This programme provides the opportunity to learn, share experiences and insights and create networks with international students from a range of backgrounds in teaching, publishing and related academic disciplines.\n\n\n- Education at Glasgow is ranked 3rd in the UK by the Good University Guide 2026, and 7th in the UK by the Complete University Guide 2026.\n\n\n**PROGRAMME STRUCTURE**\nYou will take five core courses and one optional course, and produce a dissertation based on a specialised topic.\n\n**Core courses**\nChildren's Literature And Literacies: Critical Enquiry\nIntroduction To Educational And Social Research\nModern Educational Thought\nReframing Language, Literature And Literacies For 21St Century Life\nTexts For Children and Young People\n\n**Optional courses may include**\nAdvanced Educational Research\nDeveloping Literacies: An Inclusive Perspective\nIdentities, Relationships and Behaviours in Education\nInternational and Comparative Education\nTexts For Diversity: Children's Literature for a Diverse World\n\n**CAREER PROSPECTS**\nThis programme is an excellent source of professional development if you’re already working in education, library services, publishing and children’s media, or are looking to move into these areas.",
