"summary": "Anatomical Sciences is the study of the human body’s structure and how its organs and tissues are connected. You will explore anatomy at two levels:\n\n\n- Gross anatomy – studying whole organs\n\n\n- Microscopic anatomy – examining tissues (histology)\n\n\nThis course covers the human body from early development through to adulthood. This will give you a complete understanding of human structure and function.\n\nYear 1 – Foundation in Applied Sciences\nThis course is run in collaboration with Dundee & Angus College. In your first year, you will undertake the HNC in Applied Sciences. This builds your knowledge in biology, chemistry, and laboratory skills. Successful completion of this year secures advanced Level 2 entry at the University of Dundee.\n\nYear 2 – Core Anatomy and Practical Skills\nAt Level 2, you will begin to specialise in anatomical sciences. You will study:\n\n\n- the systems of the body\n\n\n- the variation between animals and humans\n\n\n- cell biology\n\n\n- molecular mechanisms and processes relevant to anatomy\n\n\n- physiology, pharmacology and anatomy of different systems of the body\n\n\nTo prepare you for designing and carrying out projects later in your course you will develop practical skills in:\n\n\n- Laboratory techniques\n\n\n- Data analysis and experiment design\n\n\nYears 3 and 4 – Advanced Study and Research\nOnce you’re in Levels 3 and 4 you can transfer on to forensic anthropology if you find your interests have changed.\n\nIn Levels 3 and 4, you will deepen your expertise in anatomy and forensic anthropology. You will study advanced modules covering:\n\n\n- Full-body dissection using Thiel-embalmed cadavers – a unique hands-on experience that sets Dundee apart.\n\n\n- Gross anatomy of organs and systems\n\n\n- Microscopic anatomy (histology)\n\n\nYou will also complete a final-year research project in anatomical sciences, applying your skills to a specialist area.",
