"summary": "This course is the first stage you need to complete if you are following the traditional route into secondary education.\n\nIt covers the Initial Teacher Education phase of your career.\n\nAfter the course, this is typically followed by a successful induction year working in a school. This is known as the Teaching Induction Scheme. After this induction year, you will be qualified to teach Maths in Scotland.\n\nYou will learn to teach aspects of the Mathematics content of the broad general education phase and the senior phase. The senior phase will be in relation to the Mathematics National Qualifications.\n\nYou will gain vital classroom skills and experience. This will be done through two on-campus study modules combined with three school placements.\n\nYou will explore aspects of theory for teaching Mathematics to children and young adults.\n\nYou will also learn how to effectively support literacy, numeracy, health and wellbeing. This is the responsibility of all teachers in Scotland.\n\nIn addition to the core course elements, you'll also be able to choose from a range of elective options. Some of these are focused on employability, others on specific aspects of curriculum and pedagogy.\n\nSmall class sizes mean you will benefit from a strong, supportive community of staff and students.\n\nYou will receive individual support throughout the course from an allocated tutor.\n\nAdditionally, you will be allocated a school-based mentor when you are on professional placement.",
