"additionalFeeInformation": "In addition to tuition fees, you may incur extra costs which you will need to plan for. As part of your studies the college will arrange and facilitate site visits and study trips. Where possible the Department will seek to subsidise costs, however there will be a contribution from the students, of approximately £30 per year. For Mathematics, Structures and Materials & Comfort a scientific calculator will be required (approximately £15). \n\nThere are also some additional costs to purchase equipment for manual drawing in modules such as Architectural Design & Project, Construction Technology and Architectural Technology. These will include items such as A4/A3 sketch pad(s), pencils, rubber, drawing pens, scale ruler(s) and adjustable set squares. Approximate cost of these items is £150. Printing and binding will also be required. You may also choose to purchase your own textbooks and course materials or prefer your own computer and software. Computer Aided Design software used on the course is available as free student copies from software company website.\n\nTuition fees apply to the College financial year beginning 1 August 2026 and ending on 31 July 2027 and are chargeable in each year of study. Tuition fees are payable in full at the time of enrolment and can comprise course fees, registration fees or any other charge relating to the course. "summary": "Architectural Technology focuses on the technical aspects of building design and construction. This includes the need for an innovative and sustainable design approach in terms of environmental, economic and social impacts. Architectural Technologists develop the conceptual design through to construction, ensuring buildings are well designed and detailed, whilst being functional and energy efficient. Validated by Ulster University, the course is designed for people who are interested in a career in Architectural Technology, who require a Foundation Degree to progress to higher academic qualifications and/or to enhance employment prospects. \n\nProgression is by articulation to the second year of Ulster University’s BSc Hons Architectural Technology and Management, with a further two years of study required.
