Study wood and other decorative art materials associated with furniture including surface coatings: transparent, gilded, painted or lacquered.\n\n**You can expect**\n\nTo develop excellent practical skills\nTo learn historic making techniques\nTo study preventative conservation\n\n**Learning environment**\n\nWell-equipped workshop with access 8.30am-9pm, 7 days a week\nIndividual work benches for each student\nDedicated finishing area and separate machine shop\nLow student : tutor ratio\nInterdisciplinary environment\nTeaches students to understand and apply Icon's Professional Standards in Conservation\nVisits from specialists from the heritage and private sectors\nVisits to museums and active links with heritage bodies\nWork placement in a professional studio\n\n**Exceptional facilities**\n\nThe specialist furniture workshop is equipped with a full range of power and hand tools and individual work spaces for each student. There is a dedicated finishing area, and a separate machine shop.
