"summary": "This innovative LLM Law with Environmental Law, Governance and Policy is a research-led course that offers you the theoretical and practical knowledge crucial for understanding how policy, the law and governance structures respond to environmental problems. \n\n**Why choose this course?**\n\n\n- Whether you are a law or non-law graduate, or are already employed as a legal practitioner, this course is ideal if you wish to establish an advanced understanding of environmental law, governance and policy which can aid you in your career progression.\n\n\n- You will be taught by staff who are part of a proud tradition of critical scholarship addressing issues of law through power and inequality led by principles of social, economic, political, environmental and racial justice.\n\n\n- You can choose from our diverse range of optional modules across various topics, to tailor the degree to your professional and academic interests.\n\n\n**What you will learn**\n\nThis course will develop your critical understanding of environmental problems and the responses to them, as well as their intersection with other challenges such as racial and economic inequalities.\n\nDuring the course you will:\n\n\n- gain an understanding of the intersection between law and other societal challenges, as well as the interaction between multiple areas of law\n\n\n- learn how to transfer your understanding of complex problems and regulatory responses to different contexts\n\n\n- critically evaluate legal, regulatory and policy proposals.\n\n\n**How you will learn**\n\nYou can choose between full- or part-time study on this course. **It has an evening timetable with classes taking place in the evening**, so you can balance study with work, family or other commitments. \n\nIt is taught via a combination of pre-recorded lectures and seminars. Lectures are designed to engage you in an overview of the topic, while seminars are group sessions in which you will be able to contribute to discussions and work together as a group.\n\n**Highlights**\n\n\n- At Birkbeck we understand that law is about more than legal doctrine and legal technique, so we have designed a truly interdisciplinary course where you are able to take options from within the Law School and from other schools at Birkbeck.\n\n\n- The academics involved in teaching on the course are world leaders in their various fields and the Law School is internationally renowned for its pathbreaking theoretical, political and humanities-based scholarship.\n\n\n- You will be able to attend our Law School Annual Lecture and specialist research seminars which feature international scholars speaking on current issues and their interdisciplinary research. \n\n\n- We are home to the Birkbeck Law Press which publishes Law and Critique.
