They are part of a proud tradition of critical scholarship, addressing issues of law through power and inequality and being led by principles of social, economic, political, environmental and racial justice.\n\n\n- At Birkbeck we understand that intellectual property is about more than legal doctrine and legal technique, so we have designed a truly interdisciplinary course. You will be able to choose modules focused on technology, political economy, management, innovation, entrepreneurship and the creative industries taught by international experts in legal studies, cultural studies, economics and critical management studies. \n\n\n**What you will learn**\n\nThroughout the course, we draw from primary and secondary sources to address contemporary debates in intellectual property law and policy, paying particular attention to the history, theory and political economy of intellectual property law.\n\nYou will:\n\n\n- gain an understanding of the intersection between law and other societal challenges, as well as the interaction between multiple areas of law\n\n\n- learn how to transfer your understanding of complex problems and regulatory responses to different contexts\n\n\n- critically evaluate legal, regulatory and policy proposals concerning intellectual property.\n\n\n**How you will learn**\n\nYou will learn through a combination of seminars and pre-recorded lectures.
