The University offers the following electives which cover corporate, commercial and private client practice areas.\n\nElectives available to students starting the LPC in or after January 2025\n\nCorporate and Commercial Practice Electives\n\nCommercial Law & Practice\nEmployment Law & Practice\nIntellectual Property Law & Practice\n\nCommercial and Private Client Practice Electives\n\nCommercial Law & Practice\nEmployment Law & Practice\nIntellectual Property Law & Practice\nAdvanced Criminal Law and Practice*\nFamily Law & Practice\nPersonal Injury and Clinical Negligence Law & Practice\nPrivate Client Law & Practice\nMergers and Acquisitions Law & Practice*\n \nPlease note:\n\n*Students cannot study both Advanced Criminal Law and Practice and Mergers and Acquisitions Law and Practice as the exams take place at the same time.\n\nAll elective choices on all modes are subject to demand and timetabling constraints, and we cannot guarantee that all subjects will be available at any campus. To enable us to run appropriate transactional style workshop activities the minimum number of students required for a class is usually 10.\n \nLLM in Professional Legal Practice (optional)\n\nTo receive an LLM in Professional Legal Practice students will study an additional elective module of your choice. All LLM students will also undertake a self-study Professional Practice Research Report module.\n\nIf you choose not to complete the LLM in Professional Legal Practice you will be issued with a Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) and will still have completed the vocational stage of training requirements.",

"assessmentMethods": "Assessed through a range of assessments including oral assessments in Interviewing and Advocacy, and open book exams.\n\nIf you choose to study your LPC with a Master’s you will also be assessed with a written report and an oral assessment.",
"entryRequirements": "To be eligible to take up your place on our LPC, you must comply with the requirements for commencing a Legal Practice Course (LPC) set out by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).\n\nStudents must possess either a Qualifying Law Degree, usually at 2:2 or above, or a Common Professional Examination (CPE)/Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) or similar qualification, such as CILEX.\n\nYour law degree must meet certain academic standards in order to qualify. This must include having adequately passed assessments in the seven Foundations of Legal Knowledge; Public Law, Obligations I (Contract), Obligations II (Tort), Criminal Law, Land Law, Equity & Trusts and Law of the European Union.\n\nEnglish language requirements for applicants whose first language is not English\n\nAn English Language level equivalent to IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component. Please see 'Alternative English language qualifications' section below for alternatives to IELTS.",

"summary": "The Legal Practice Course (LPC) is a postgraduate legal qualification that is the final academic step for aspiring solicitors. Once successfully completed, you can go on to a training contract before fully qualifying as a solicitor. Our LPC Online offers you the best possible preparation to practise law with the skills to succeed in business. If you’re looking for an online route to your career as a solicitor, with the same qualification as our on campus alternative, our supported study programme is the perfect solution.\n\nPlease note that the last online intake (part-time) for the LPC will be in September 2026.\n\nBefore you start your LPC we will need confirmation from you that you have understood the need to successfully complete the LPC, ie to pass both Stages 1 and 2, by August 2030, and that if not you will need to undertake the SQE examinations to meet SRA requirements.\n\nOur LPC Online is a completely supported online study programme, offering you the best truly flexible route to your career as a solicitor. You can study where you want, receiving regular online support and feedback on your work from our professionally experienced lecturers.
