"summary": "Designed in line with ESRC guidelines, the Management MRes offers a solid foundation for doctoral studies in management. The programme combines in-depth study of a specialist management topic of your choice and applied training in management research methods. It provides an integrated ESRC pathway into your management PhD.\n\n**WHY THIS PROGRAMME**\n- This MRes Management will equip you with theoretical knowledge of your chosen specialist research topic in management, as well as the qualitative and quantitative skills necessary to become a successful management researcher or analyst.\n\n\n- You will learn how to identify research questions, design and manage research projects, and prepare high quality research proposals. You will create your own research proposal and gain applied training that is tailored to your specific research topic.\n\n\n- At an early stage of the programme you will be allocated a supervisor who will support you in designing and implementing your own research project using the research methods, tools and techniques that you acquire throughout the year.\n\n\n- Class sizes are small for the core specialist management courses, which facilitates an interactive learning environment.\n\n\n- Throughout the year you will have the opportunity to take part in research workshops, seminars, and conferences, as well as social and guest speaker events that we organise for our PhD students.\n\n\n- Take advantage of our individualised skills development programme, which will ensure you balance academic theory with crucial employability skills to help you maximise your potential and achieve your career goals.\n\n\n**PROGRAMME STRUCTURE**\nYou will take four core and three optional courses. You will have the opportunity to work alongside a diverse group of PhD researchers and become a member of the postgraduate research community. Teaching will be in the format of lectures, seminars, workshops and group discussions, and you will also undertake an independent research project. The project will provide an opportunity for you to identify an area of interest and create a research project that allows an in depth critical exploration of this topic.\n\n**Core courses**\nDissertation\nResearch Master Class\nManagement Research Methods\nQuantitative Data Analysis\nQualitative Research Methods\n\n**Optional courses**\nApplied Multivariate Analysis*\nIntroduction To Social Theory For Researchers\nManagement specialist course\n\n*a co-requisite course, and as a condition of enrolment, it may only be chosen with Quantitative Data Analysis. Both must be taken in the same session.\n\n**CAREER PROSPECTS**\nBy the end of the programme you will have the knowledge and skills that will equip you to undertake independent research at the frontier of the management field. This will enable you to pursue further PhD research or to take up employment in policy or practice that relies on management research. Graduates can pursue careers in management, including local and national government, business, and industry. Possible professions include management consultant, analyst or research project manager. The vast majority of our graduates have continued onto a PhD in management. We have a dedicated careers and employability team who provide 1-2-1 support and advice, group workshops, employer events on campus and networking opportunities throughout the year to help you with your careers prospects.",
