This allows us to explore a broad range of research. We explore many topics, from nanotechnology to whole-cell function. Specialist facilities include:\n\nTIRF and SIM-TIRF microscopy\nsystems for 4-D real-time fluorescence imaging with focal locking systems\nflow cytometry with cell sorting\nx-ray crystallography\na microbiology containment level 3 suite\nOther equipment includes:\n\nhigh-performance liquid chromatography\nstop-flow UV-VIS fluorescence spectroscopy\nfacilities for electron microscopy, DNA sequencing, microarray analyses and proteomics\nWe have a suite of licenced controlled environment rooms. We use these for growing transgenic plants and for housing quarantine invertebrate pests.",
