On this course, you’ll gain a holistic understanding of human adaptation and functioning in performance domains. \n\nYou’ll examine enablers and disablers of human performance and learn about the factors that predict who’ll thrive in extreme conditions, from a biopsychosocial perspective. You’ll explore the concept of “extreme jobs” and their impact on health and performance. \n\nYou'll engage in a variety of learning experiences, including lectures, small group tutorials, and workshops, designed to foster holistic and practical understanding. You’ll have the opportunity to hear from guest speakers, including world-renowned individuals working in high-performance domains. \n\n**Features and benefits**\n\n\n- **Research active department** - The School of Psychology is home to four research groups: Child, Adolescent and Parent Mental Health: Understanding Developmental Mechanisms, Human Adaptation in Stressful Environments (HASTE), Changing Behaviour and Health and Wellbeing. \n\n\n- **Taught by experts** - Your studies are supported by a department of committed and enthusiastic teachers, researchers and experts in their chosen field. \n\n\n- **Contemporary teaching** - Our teaching team includes practitioners and academics with experience in high performance domains like blue chip companies, policing, military, and healthcare in the UK and internationally. \n\n\n- **Transferable skills** – Develop critical thinking, leadership and problem- solving skills that are valuable in a wide range of careers, from management to research. \n\n\n- **Enhanced student support** - We strongly believe in enhancing student wellbeing.
